Chakra Meditation Objective

Chakra Meditation Objective

To learn how to slow the physical vibration or frequency deep within your body.

Vibrational Energies

Many people do not realise that their chakra centres are far too exposed. They are accepting or collecting vibrational patterns in conflict, these vibrations are both high and low. So often times these patterns are disorganised and untidy, and so frequently the seven layers of the physical, emotional, intellectual, astral, etheric, celestial, and the ketheric are abnormally increased.

Especially in intensity for their physical parallel. Therefore, the outcome is that they lure slow frequency forces, energy if you will, that remain within their personal sphere.

If you hurl yourself headlong into meditation, you will speed the whole process up. Directly rendering special stress on your organs that are too slow to cope.

This then places too much stress on the chakras already in a place of conflict, which then raises the internal discord of your body. By slowing your physical vibration to a slow-paced and more natural frequency than you typically use, you ease the tensions and pressure that you put on your muscles.

Anxiety stops being manufactured by your biochemical processes, so you relieve the burden of any stress or mental suffering. You can now get rid of the dark sultry energy forces right away that hang on in the various chakra centres of your body. Therefore, staying within your auric field as a whole, and removing the subliminal fragments of the act of thought interference from your auric space.

Slowing Your Frequency or Vibration

When you start to slow your vibration, you need to sit with your back in alignment, so that your weight is balanced centrally.

In order for your chakra centres to be well aligned you need to settle any issues of bad posture.

Focusing on Your Breathing

Focus on you're breathing; starting with inhaling and exhaling in a balanced rhythm. It doesn't matter if you inhale for a beat of three and exhale for a beat of three, or you inhale for beat of five and exhale for a beat of five.

It all depends on your own lung capacity, and what makes you pleasurably comfortable when you to breathe in a balanced rhythm. One of the most important factors now is to achieve an awareness and appreciation of a balanced breathing rhythm.

Chakras as Team Players

Use your visualisation technique to take your awareness, all the way down to your base chakra, slowing your vibration down even further.

Now transfer yourself into the main part of this meditation exercise your vibration will intuitively arise again. Only now, your chakra centres are resonating in harmony, instead of being in discord.

In place of one individual chakra taking up all the slack for the idle one's you now have a team effort.

Breathing rhythmically should become natural to you, to slow your vibration at the beginning of all the principle meditations.

Progression in Your Chakra Meditations

As you become more adept at your meditations colours will change as your vibration changes. Working with meditation exercises that entwine us with the Mother Earth gives us strength, entwining with Mother Earth promotes our healing energies that are beneficial for you.

Drawing Down the White Light

The stronger your visualisation the greater the significance when you bring down white light. Now start by visualising white light that courses freely like a liquid down through each of the seven main chakra centres mentioned below: The Chakra's are the centre of spiritual power in body, they are the vibrational centres of our bodies.

The Crown Chakra: This is the ketheric layer
The Brow Chakra: The Third Eye is the celestial layer.
The Throat Chakra: This is the etheric layer.
The Heart Chakra: This is the astral layer.
The Solar Plexus Chakra: This is the mental or intellectual layer.
The Spleen Chakra: This is the emotional layer.
The Root Chakra: This is the physical layer
Now that you've found a cosy position and now that you've found you're natural balanced breathing rhythm, and you're slowing down your vibration. You can now visualise the white light flowing down like a mountain waterfall through your crown chakra. Your crown chakra is the highest vibrational point within your body. White light should always be brought into your body through your crown chakra.

White Light Visualization

Visualize pure white light coursing freely like a liquid down through each of the seven main spiritual chakra centers. First visualize your spiritual chakra centers as being a hollow infrastructure, notice warmth and bright glow as each one fills up with liquid white light. As each chakra is completely filled with white light move on to the next chakra.

As the liquid white light courses into each chakra use your awakening perception to inhale breath into that chakra. As you perform this visualization the chakra center will become warm and in due time hot. When you feel the heat intensify in each chakra center it is filled completely with white light.

The heat signals it is time to move on to the next chakra centre.

Visualize the white light coursing like a liquid through the crown chakra.

Visualize white light coursing like a liquid through the third eye.

Visualize white light coursing like a liquid through the throat chakra.

Visualize white light coursing like a liquid through the heart chakra.

Visualize white light coursing like a liquid through the solar plexus chakra.

Visualize white light coursing like a liquid through the spleen chakra the sexual center

Visualize white light coursing like a liquid through the root chakra.

Note: Most people haven't done this before, so take time to practice this feel and become intuitively aware of the vibration. The white light has a smooth languid sensation as it courses freely through each chakra. By now all your chakra centers are full and they should all be blended into each other, with an influx of white light.

Chakra Balancing
Having your chakras balanced is important. Open and balanced chakras allow your life energy to flow naturally. An energy medicine practitioner trained in manipulating the energy flow of energy can assist you in getting misaligned chakras back to functioning properly. It may take one or more appointments with a practitioner to get your energy levels up to par. To maintain balance there are a variety of healthy actions you can take to help keep your chakras open and functioning properly.

1.  Food That Fuel Your Chakras
It is important to feed and nourish the flesh in order to help support and fuel our chakras. Whenever one or more of your chakras is misaligned you might do well to look and see if you are not eating or possibly overeating the foods that fuel that particular chakra.

2.  Spring Clean Your Chakras
Taking a tour of your living space will help give you clues as to which of your chakras need clearing. Chakra blockages are often mirrored by the state of disarray in the various rooms in your home. Roll up your sleeves, clean, clean, and clean some more. Your chakras will thank you!

3.  Balancing Chakra Bath
Colorful light bath that clears and balances the chakras. This meditation should begin to bring in healing colors and light into your spiritual being to help you to cope and deal with different aspects of your life in a more meaningful way.

4.  Chakra Balancing Incantations
To help balance your light body and align your chakra energy system repeat each of the incantations listed here. Speak the first part of the phrase outloud as you inhale. Speak the second part of the phrase as you exhale. Repeat each of the twelve incantation ten times. When you are finished you will feel centered and balanced.

5.  Activating the Heart Chakra with Drumming
Drumming activates the heart chakra, thereby balancing the descending higher chakra energies against the ascending lower chakra frequencies. From the heart, these harmonious energies resonate outward into the web of life. Researchers have found that drum rhythms affect the heartbeat. The heart's pulse may speed up, slow down, or gradually entrain with the pulsation of a drum rhythm until they are locked in perfect synchronization.

6.  Chakracises
Physical actions such as belly dancing, hula hooping, marching in place and pelvic thrusts can be done to help get your chakras functioning optimally.

7.  Crystals Associated with the Seven Major Chakras
There are many gemstones that are specifically helpful in balancing the individual chakras. A good rule of thumb is to match the color of the stone with the color associated with the chakras (i.e. purple stones for balancing crown chakra, red stones for balancing the root chakra, green stones for the heart, etc.).

The Seven Major Chakras
The word chakra is derived from the Sanskrit word meaning wheel. If we were able to see the chakras as many(psychics, in fact, do) we would observe a wheel of energy continuously revolving or rotating. Clairvoyants perceive chakras as colorful wheels or flowers with a hub in the center. The chakras begin at the base of the spine and finish at the top of the head.

Though fixed in the central spinal column they are located on both the front and back of the body, and work through it.

Each chakra vibrates or rotates at a different speed. The root or first chakra rotates at the slowest speed, the crown or seventh chakra at the highest speed. Each chakra is stimulated by its own and complimentary color, and a range of gemstones for specific uses.

The chakra colors are of the rainbow; red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. The size and brightness of the wheels vary with individual development, physical condition, energy levels, disease, or stress.

If the chakras are not balanced, or if the energies are blocked, the basic life force will be slowed down. The individual may feel listless, tired, out of sorts, or depressed. Not only will physical bodily functions be affected so diseases may manifest, but the thought processes and the mind may also be affected. A negative attitude, fear, doubt, etc. may preoccupy the individual.

A constant balance between the chakras promotes health and a sense of well being. If the chakras are opened to much, a person could literally short circuit themselves with too much universal energy going through the body.

If the chakras are closed, this does not allow for the universal energy to flow through them properly which may also lead to dis-ease.

Most of us react to unpleasant experiences by blocking our feeling and stopping a great deal of our natural energy flow. This affects the maturation and development of the chakras.

Whenever a person blocks whatever experience he is having, he in turn blocks his chakras, which eventually become disfigured. When the chakras are functioning normally, each will be open, spinning clockwise to metabolize the particular energies needed from the universal energy field.

As already mentioned any imbalances that exist within any chakra may have profound effects upon either our physical or emotional bodies. We are able to use quartz crystals and gemstones to re-balance all our chakric centers and once the chakra has been properly balanced then our body will gradually return to normal.

The reason why crystals and gemstones are wonderful and powerful healing tools are because of what science calls its piezoelectric effect. (You can see this effect in the modern quartz watches). Crystals and gemstones respond to the electricity that is coursing through our body, and if the energy is sluggish, the constant electrical vibrations of the stones will help to harmonize, balance, and stimulate these energies.

THE SEVEN MAJOR CHAKRAS

First Chakra - Root

Studying the individual chakras begins with the root chakra, called Muladhara in Sanskrit. The root chakra is located at the base of the spine at the tailbone in back, and the pubic bone in front. This center holds the basic needs for survival, security and safety. The root chakra is powerfully related to our contact with the Earth Mother, providing us with the ability to be grounded into the earth plane. This is also the center of manifestation. When you are trying to make things happen in the material world, business or material possessions, the energy to succeed will come from the first chakra. If this chakra is blocked an individual may feel fearful, anxious, insecure and frustrated. Problems like obesity, anorexia nervosa, and knee troubles can occur. Root body parts include the hips, legs, lower back and sexual organs. The colors used for this chakra are red, brown and black. The gemstones are Garnet, Smoky Quartz, Obsidian, and Black Tourmaline.

NOTE: A man¹s sexual organs are located primarily in his first chakra, so male sexual energy is usually experienced primarily as physical. A women's sexual organs are located primarily in her second chakra, so female sexual energy is usually experienced primarily as emotional. Both chakras are associated with sexual energy
Second Chakra - Belly (Sacral)

The second chakra is often referred to as the belly or sacral chakra. It is located two inches below the navel and is rooted into the spine. This center holds the basic needs for sexuality, creativity, intuition, and self-worth. This chakra is also about friendliness, creativity, and emotions. It governs peoples sense of self-worth, their confidence in their own creativity, and their ability to relate to others in an open and friendly way. It¹s influenced by how emotions were expressed or repressed in the family during childhood. Proper balance in this chakra means the ability to flow with emotions freely and to feel and reach out to others sexually or not. If this chakra is blocked a person may feel emotionally explosive, manipulative, obsessed with thoughts of sex or may lack energy. Physical problems may include, kidney weakness, stiff lower back, constipation, and muscle spasms. Belly body parts include sexual organs (women), kidneys, bladder, and large intestine. The main color used with this chakra is orange. The gemstones are Carnelian Agate, Orange Calcite and Tigers Eye.

Third Chakra - Solar Plexus

The third chakra is referred to as the solar plexus chakra. It is located two inches below the breastbone in the center behind the stomach. The third chakra is the center of personal power, the place of ego , of passions, impulses, anger and strength. It is also the center for astral travel and astral influences, receptivity of spirit guides and for psychic development. When the Third Chakra is out of balance you may lack confidence, be confused, worry about what others think, feel that others are controlling your life, and may be depressed. Physical problems may include digestive difficulties, liver problems, diabetes, nervous exhaustion, and food allergies. When balanced you may feel cheerful, outgoing, have self-respect, expressive, enjoy taking on new challenges, and have a strong sense of personal power. The body parts for this chakra include the stomach, liver, gall bladder, pancreas, and small intestine. The main color for this chakra is yellow. The gemstones are Citrine, Topaz, and Yellow Calcite.

Fourth Chakra - Heart

The fourth chakra is referred to as the heart chakra. It is located behind the breast bone in front and on the spine between the shoulder blades in back. This is the center for love, compassion and spirituality. This center directs one¹s ability to love themselves and others, to give and to receive love. This is also the chakra connecting body and mind with spirit. Almost everyone today has a hard, hurt, or broken heart, and it is no accident that heart disease is the number one killer in America today. Deep heart hurts can result in aura obstructions called heart scars. When these scars are released, they raise a lot of old pain, but free the heart for healing and new growth. When this chakra is out of balance you may feel sorry for yourself, paranoid, indecisive, afraid of letting go, afraid of getting hurt, or unworthy of love. Physical illnesses include heart attack, high blood pressure, insomnia, and difficult in breathing. When this chakra is balanced you may feel compassionate, friendly, empathetic, desire to nurture others and see the good in everyone. Body parts for the fourth chakra include heart, lungs, circulatory system, shoulders, and upper back. The main colors used are pink and green. The gemstones are Rose Quartz, Kunzite, and Watermelon tourmaline.

Fifth Chakra - Throat

The fifth chakra is referred to as the throat chakra. It is located in the V of the collarbone at the lower neck and is the center of communication, sound, and expression of creativity via thought , speech, and writing. The possibility for change, transformation and healing are located here. The throat is where anger is stored and finally let go of. When this chakra is out of balance you may want to hold back, feel timid, be quiet, feel weak, or can¹t express your thoughts. Physical illnesses or ailments include, hyperthyroid, skin irritations, ear infections, sore throat, inflammations, and back pain. When this chakra is balanced you may feel balanced, centered, musically or artistically inspired, and may be a good speaker. Body parts for the fifth chakra are throat, neck, teeth, ears, and thyroid gland. The main color used is light blue. The gemstones are Aquamarine and Azurite.

Sixth Chakra - Third Eye

The sixth chakra is referred to as the third eye or brow chakra. It is located above the physical eyes on the center of the forehead. This is the center for psychic ability, higher intuition, the energies of spirit and light. It also assists in the purification of negative tendencies and in the elimination of selfish attitudes. Through the power of the sixth chakra, you can receive guidance, channel, and tune into your Higher Self. When this chakra is not balanced you may feel non-assertive, afraid of success, or go the opposite way and be egotistical. Physical symptoms may include headaches, blurred vision, blindness, and eyestrain. When this chakra is balanced and open you are your own master with no fear of death, are not attached to material things, may experience telepathy, astral travel, and past lives. Sixth chakra body parts include the eyes, face, brain, lymphatic and endocrine system. The main colors are purple and dark blue. The gemstones are Amethyst, Sodalite, and Lapis Lazuli.

Seventh Chakra - Crown

The seventh chakra is referred to as the crown chakra. It is located just behind the top of the skull. It is the center of spirituality, enlightenment, dynamic thought and energy. It allows for the inward flow of wisdom, and brings the gift of cosmic consciousness. This is also the center of connectedness with the Goddess (God), the place where life animates the physical body. The silver cord that connects the aura bodies extends from the crown. The soul comes into the body through the crown at birth and leaves from the crown at death. When this chakra is unbalanced there may be a constant sense of frustration, no spark of joy, and destructive feelings. Illnesses may include migraine headaches and depression. Balanced energy in this chakra may include the ability to open up to the Divine and total access to the unconscious and subconscious. The main colors for the crown are white and purple. The gemstones are Clear Quartz Crystal, Oregon Opal, and Amethyst.

Reclaim Your Right To Heal

The ancient healers knew that the body is more than what is seen. They respected the wholeness of the body, emotions, mind, and spirit, saw the goddess (god) within all Being, and treated their patients with respect and caring. Healing was a three way agreement between healer, goddess (god) and the person being healed, and healing was an active choice. Such partnerships and participation are missing in today¹s modern medicine, along with the concepts of wholeness and respect. Anyone can heal, and anyone can choose well-being. By learning and using the ancient skills of healing, many diseases of the body, emotions, mind, and spirit are preventable, or are easily transformed before they become matters for the allopathic medicine. The skills of the ancient healers are available, powerful and very much alive right now. Please use these tools, it is our right!!

Spring Cleaning and Your Chakras

A person does not have to look beyond his own home environment to discover which chakra centers may be problematic or blocked. Hoarders are especially at risk of a complete chakra system shutdown. Taking a tour of your living space will help give you clues as to which of your chakras need attention.

Chakra blockages are often mirrored by the state of disarray in the various rooms in your home.

A messy or disorganized kitchen could reflect a heart chakra imbalance. A cluttered den or home office may indicate mental confusion or lack of focus. A dusty or unorganized master bedroom can affect your love relationship negatively. Grimy window panes may mimic clouded third eye perceptions. An overstuffed attic or dirty rain gutters may be mirroring a blocked crown chakra.

Rooms and living spaces that typically represent the major chakras are:

Crown Chakra: Attic, Roof, Rain Gutters
Brow Chakra: Den, Home Office, Windows
Throat Chakra: Living Room, Family Room
Heart Chakra: Kitchen, Dining Areas
Solar Plexus Chakra: Bathrooms, Personal Spaces
Sacral Chakra: Master Bedroom
Root Chakra: Basement, Crawl Spaces
Aura: Porches, Decks, Landscaping, Garages
Cleaning and Organizing

It is important not to hire someone else to do the clean up for you. In order to benefit from clearing your chakra system as well as getting your home clean and uncluttered it is key that you participate in the house cleaning. Of course, you can certainly ask family members who are living under the same roof with you to roll up their sleeves and help out. All members of a household play some role in creating the messes, so everyone will benefit by sharing in the clean up. Children should be responsible for cleaning and organizing their own bedrooms. How much you help or supervise the children cleaning will depend on their ages. A teenager should be able to tackle clearing a bedroom with very little or no assistance.
Routine Surface Sweeps

A quick sweep of obvious clutter will help you feel better temporarily, but the real test will be instilling the habit of keeping order in the future. A surface sweep is a very good habit for daily upkeep or weekly cleaning. A surface sweep is when you will walk through each room of your home and put things that are obviously out of place back where they belong.
Deeper Sweeps

Undertaking the project of thoroughly cleaning your home can be overwhelming. The best way to declutter your space is to systematically go through your stuff item by item. Habits of tossing odds and ends into designated junk drawers simply won't do.
Tackle One Room at a Time

A good system is to assign yourself one room or area to focus on each month. The kitchen is a good starting place. The kitchen represents the heart of the home and also mirrors your heart chakra. Once your heart is cleared the project of cleaning the rest of your home will be much easier to tackle.

Assign yourself chores associated with the designated room at the beginning of the month. Here is an example of weekly chores for the kitchen:
Weekly Kitchen Chores

First Week:
Dust and wash everything that is in sight (counter tops, kitchen table, small appliances, sink, stove top, etc.)
Second Week:
Empty all the cupboards, toss out expired goods, reorganize your pantry goods, dishes and cookware. Get rid of items that are no longer useful.
Third Week:
Mop floors, clean walls, and launder curtains.
Fourth Week:
Clean oven, refrigerator and light fixtures.

Roll up your sleeves, clean, clean, and clean some more.

Balancing Your Chakras in a Color Bath

Begin by sitting comfortably. Take a deep breath in through your nose, and exhale out through your mouth.

Do this three times. Now begin by picturing the white light of God and of Universal love swirling around you in a counter-clockwise motion, starting at your feet, and moving up towards your head. Picture this motion of white light going around you three times, each time starting at the bottom of your feet and moving upwards.

Next, start a little bit above your head, picture a purple (crown chakra - which brings in spirit) light swirling around, try counter-clockwise, if that doesn't quite feel right, trying move the purple light in a clockwise motion. How does it feel? Does it move easily, or does it feel hard to move the purple light around? If it feels "stuck" keep picturing this purple light moving in the direction you have chosen clockwise or counter-clockwise. Now take that purple light and picture it swirling around your body, swirling down toward your feet and back up again going in a clockwise or counter-clockwise motion. Once you have done this, you can move on, the purple light may be moving with ease, or feel heavy and stuck.

The heavy or stuck feeling just means that the chakra is unbalanced, but the more you work at this on a daily basis, the more it will open up and balance and begin to move with ease.

Moving the different color lights in a clockwise motion brings in energy to that chakra, moving the different color lights in a counter-clockwise motion repel incoming energy or protect that chakra.

Now let's move to the area on the forehead which is the third-eye chakra (which is your intuitive area). Begin by picturing an indigo color light in a circular motion clockwise or counter-clockwise, whichever "feels" easier or better. Picture it moving until you feel that it is clear or moving in an easy motion, now take that indigo light and swirl it around your body, in a clockwise or counter-clockwise motion down to your feet and back up to your head.

You can move the light up and down your body, once you feel you have finished with that particular chakra and are ready to move on.

Next is the throat area (throat chakra, which holds anger and the ability to speak up for oneself). Picture a light blue light going in a clockwise or counter-clockwise motion. Same as above until it moves with ease or you feel you need to move on. Don't expect all these chakras to have a "clear" or "easy" feeling the first time you do this. It may take several times before the chakras will change and become clear and balanced (the color moving with ease). Picture the blue light swirling around your body in a clockwise or counter-clockwise motion down your body to your feet and back up again to your head.

The chest area, which is known as the heart chakra (which is the center of love for self, and being able to love). This color is pink or green. Pick one of the colors and picture it moving in a clockwise or counter-clockwise motion. When you are ready you can then swirl it around your body and down to your feet and back up to your head. The diaphragm chakra (located right below your breastbone or in the stomach area) is the color of yellow, and relates to emotional issues, once again picture the yellow going clockwise or counter-clockwise. When you are ready you can then swirl it around your body and down to your feet and back up to your head. Different chakras may move in different directions. They do not all have to go in the same direction, and will not always be the same, let your intuition be your guide.

The belly chakra color is orange (this relates to sexuality) repeat sequence as stated above. Moving the color light clockwise or counter-clockwise and then down and up the body.

Lastly the root chakra color is red and located in the pelvic area (this relates to safety and security in all aspects of life). Swirl the color light in the chakra area and then down and up the body.

This meditation should begin to bring in healing colors and light into your spiritual being to help you to cope and deal with different aspects of your life in a more meaningful way.

You will be more peaceful, life will make more sense, you will be spreading your rainbow of light out toward other people around you, and they will respond to you in a more positive way.

Another way in which I use this tool is to do this to friends and family who are having a difficult time. This is called distant healing. I can picture the person in my mind's eye and send them the white light. I picture the white light starting at their feet and swirling it around their body three times. I then use the different color lights relating to each chakra; purple, indigo, light blue, pink or green, yellow, orange, and red, using each color light and swirling it around their chakra and then down and up their body. I'm often told they feel more relaxed and more peaceful and better able to handle what is currently going on in their lives at that moment.

Drumming and Spirituality

The drum has been the guiding force in my life for many years. My journey into rhythm began under the tutelage of Mongolian shaman Jade Wah'oo. Jade's ancient knowledge of drumming and healing rhythms was most influential in putting together my first book, The Shamanic Drum: A Guide to Sacred Drumming. I had a deep respect for the power of the ceremonial rhythms and drum ways of Jade's tradition, but I had to follow my own path of rhythm.

Though Jade was my mentor, the drum became my teacher and creative addiction. I developed an insatiable thirst for its rhythms. I became a rhythm seeker, learning new rhythms from other drummers, from nature, and from dreams and visions. I explored the rhythms of many of the world's shamanic and spiritual traditions.

It was only natural, at least from my perspective, that rhythm, as a path, would lead me to the rhythmic roots of all cultures.

As I learned the drum ways of various world cultures, I found the same rhythmic qualities underlying all of them. Like the colors of the rainbow, each culture has its own hue or identity, yet each is a part of the whole. Although the focus or intent differs from culture to culture, rhythmic drumming invariably has the same power and effects in all traditions. The resonant qualities and attributes of these rhythmic phenomena are universal and come into play whenever we drum.

The sound waves produced by the drum impart their energy to the resonating systems of the body, mind, and spirit, making them vibrate in sympathy.

When we drum, our living flesh, brainwaves, and spiritual energy centers begin to vibrate in response. This sympathetic resonance leaves reverberating effects up to 72 hours after a drum session. These powerful effects can best be described in terms of their influence on the subtle energy centers known as chakras.

The Seven Chakras

The spiritual traditions of the Hopi, Cherokee, Tibetan, Hindu, and other cultures teach us that there are vibratory centers within the human body. All describe spinning wheels of energy called chakras, lying along the spine. There are seven major chakras situated along the vertical spinal axis from the genital region to the crown of the head. They vary in size, depending on their level of activity. When highly active and energized, they can expand to the size of a small plate. They can shrink to the size of a penny when closed or shut down. When in balance, they are about the size of a silver dollar. Each vortex of energy is associated with a specific color of the rainbow, distinct parts of the body, and with particular functions of consciousness. Chakras function much like electrical junction boxes, mediating spiritual energy throughout the entire mind-body system. They are the interface among the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of one's being. Imbalances in chakras lead to imbalances in body, mind, and spirit. Drumming creates a vibratory resonance that activates, balances, and aligns the chakra system.

The Base Chakra

The first or base chakra is red in color. It is located at the base of the spine and is associated with issues of basic health and survival. It is related to the anus and the adrenal glands. Resonating the base chakra grounds the spiritual forces in the body to the Earth and the physical realm of reality. When poorly grounded, your spatial understanding is impaired. You may stumble around physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. Grounding enhances your ability to function effectively on a day-to-day basis. Drumming also maintains a grounding Earth connection for those seeking altered states of consciousness or alternate realities. One of the paradoxes of rhythmic stimulation is that it has not only the power to move your awareness out of the confines of the conceptual mind into realms beyond time and space but also the capacity to ground you firmly in the present moment. It allows you to maintain a portion of ordinary awareness while experiencing non-ordinary awareness. This permits full recall later of the visionary experience. The base chakra is also known as a storehouse for a fiery energy that, if awakened, rises up the spine, illuminating all the chakras. In the Hindu tradition, this dormant energy is known as the "kundalini" or "serpent fire." This spiritual flame within can be rekindled by drumming, thereby igniting the Rainbow Fire of a fully activated chakra system. With the rising of the kundalini and the activation of succeeding chakras, an individual becomes more highly conscious and spiritually transformed.

The Sacral Chakra

The second or sacral chakra is orange and is located just below the navel in the abdominal area. This chakra affects the sexual organs. The functions associated with this center are emotion, vitality, fertility, reproduction, and sexual energy in general. Likewise, any problems in these functions can be identified and resolved through this chakra. The physical transmission of rhythmic energy to the sacral chakra removes any blockages that may hamper these functions. Drumming is an excellent way of keeping your sexual and creative energy vitalized, a great help in channeling energy into your work and everyday life.

The Navel Chakra

The third chakra is located just above the navel in the solar plexus and is related to the digestive organs. Yellow in color, it is the seat of the will-your power center. Its energy expresses personal power, which is called hiimori (windhorse) in the Mongolian tradition. It is associated with action, assertion, empowerment, and ego mastery. It is the area where chi or life force is stored. Malfunctions in the navel chakra may leave you feeling tired, powerless, and withdrawn. Shamans tend to believe that this is a very important chakra since the accumulation and maintenance of power are fundamental to shamanic practice.

The Shamanic Drum: A Guide to Sacred Drumming. Many shamanic cultures place great emphasis on drumming, for the drum unites masculine and feminine energies, generating the force that weaves the web of life. Drumming cultivates life force energy in the lower energy centers of the body, which is then stored in the area of the solar plexus. This energy can then be directed back to the higher chakras or toward healing and creative endeavors.

The Heart Chakra

The fourth vibratory center is the heart chakra and is located in the center of the chest between the two nipples.
Green in color, it influences the heart and is associated with love, compassion, and affection. This chakra forms a bridge, linking the upper three chakras to the lower three. In fact, many shamanic cultures use a healing heartbeat rhythm pulsed at around sixty beats per minute, which is the average heart rate of a person at rest. The heartbeat is one of the reasons that people so strongly and naturally connect to the drum. Each of us, after all, enters the world, having spent nine months listening to a heart-drum in the womb. We are imprinted with rhythm from the very start, and rhythm is the heartbeat of life. Shamans around the world believe that the drum is coming into power again to awaken our hearts, for we must now learn to live from the heart. We have been living from the navel center, using our ego and will power for mastery, control, and conquest. If we focus on the heart center, we can hear divine will. Our actions then spring from divine will rather than the ego. To live from the heart means to walk the "rainbow path," to walk in balance like the colors of the rainbow, to respect all pathways to wholeness. The rainbow symbolizes unity, wholeness, and balance. Mongolian shamans believe that this balance, called tegsh, is the only thing that is truly worth pursuing in this world. When humans lose it, they create imbalance within the web of life. It then requires the unity of all colors, all cultures, working together to bring the web back into balance.

The Throat Chakra

The fifth energy center is blue and is located at the base of the neck in the nook where the clavicle bones meet. Known as the throat chakra, it is associated with the vocal cords and the thyroid gland. It is the chakra of communication, telepathy, and creative expression. Unexpressed emotions tend to constrict this energy center. Drumming activates the throat chakra, greatly enhancing self-expression, creativity, and telepathic communication with others. More importantly, drumming opens your ability to hear and recognize the truth of your inner voice. Your inner truth is your sense of what is correct-your innate tendencies and inclinations. In every situation, we should be humble, open, and receptive, suspending all previous judgments in order to grasp the inner truth of the matter. If we rely on the truth of our inner voice to guide us, our actions will be in accord with the times.

The Brow Chakra
The sixth chakra is that of the brow, third eye, or place of "shamanic seeing." Located between and slightly above the eyebrows, it is indigo in color. This energy center is closely associated with imagination, inner vision, and psychic abilities. It is related to the pituitary gland. It functions as a link between the inner world and the outer world. Malfunctions of the brow chakra commonly manifest as headaches and eye tension. Resonating this chakra remedies any problems in function and opens the door to a reality separate from the ordinary world. Rhythmic drumming enables us to perceive and journey into the inner realms that shape and direct our reality. Vast worlds of extraordinary richness and complexity emerge when the brow chakra is activated. Archetypal figures symbolizing transpersonal and spiritual qualities arise, such as images of deities, spirit guides, or power animals.

The Crown Chakra
The seventh or crown chakra is located at the top of the head. The Hopi call this energy center kopavi, meaning "the open door" through which higher spiritual knowledge is received. The crown chakra is associated with the pineal gland, the color violet, full enlightenment, and union with the cosmos. Drumming activates this chakra, thereby facilitating a state of unity consciousness. One's sense of being a separate individual gives way to an experience of union, not only with other individuals, but also with the entire universe. The benefits of attaining this state of unity consciousness include relaxation, healing, more energy, better memory, greater mental clarity, enhanced creativity, and communion with the resonating web of life. Feelings of peacefulness, timelessness, and spiritual well-being are common, along with a oneness of feeling and purpose with the totality of a dynamic, interrelated universe. This experience of mystical union with the cosmos is said, by many of the world's spiritual traditions, to be the final realization. Consciousness rediscovers its true nature and recognizes itself in all things. Drumming is a simple and effective way to induce this profound state of consciousness.

If we focus our attention on the individual chakras while drumming, we can experience each energy center becoming active, balanced, and aligned with the other chakras. The basic steps are as follows:

First, select a location where you will not be interrupted. It must be a quiet space, at least for the duration of the exercise. Allow yourself fifteen to thirty minutes for this exercise. It is best to dim the lights and sit comfortably in a chair or on the floor, keeping your spine straight.

Next, you should smudge the space and yourself with the smoke of an herb. Smudging cleanses the mind and environment in preparation for spiritual or inner work. The sacred smoke dispels any stagnant or unwanted energy, opens the energy channels of your body, and raises your personal power or windhorse. According to Mongolian shamanism, windhorse can be increased through smudging, drumming, and other forms of shamanic practice in order to accomplish significant aims. Sage, cedar, and sweetgrass are traditionally used for smudging, but any dried herb is acceptable. Light the herbs in a fire-resistant receptacle and then blow out the flames. Then use a feather or your hands to draw the smoke over your heart, throat, and face to purify the body, mind, and spirit. Next, smudge your drum by passing it through the smoke. Conclude the smudging by thanking the plant whose body made the cleansing possible.

The next step is to calm and focus your mind by performing a simple concentration exercise. Close your eyes and focus on the breath as it enters the nose and fills your lungs, then gently exhale any tension you might feel. Continue breathing with a series of even inhalations and exhalations until you are calm and relaxed.

Once you are fully relaxed, begin drumming the steady lub-dub, lub-dub of a heartbeat rhythm pulsed at around 60 beats a minute (or 30 heartbeats per minute since one heartbeat equals two beats). This slow pulse tempo has a calming and centering effect. Sustain this healing rhythm until the end of the exercise.

Close your eyes and focus your attention on the physical location of each chakra, one at a time, beginning with the first one at the base of the spine. Visualize a red disc of light, about the size of a silver dollar, at the base of your spine. Imagine this energy center pulsating in sync with the heartbeat of your drum. Feel the sound of the drum vibrating at the base of your spine. As the sound resonates this area, experience the base chakra awakening, balancing, and aligning with the other chakras. Hold your attention on this chakra for a minute or two, and then allow the image to fade.

Move up to the second chakra and repeat the same focus and imagery. It is located about two inches below the navel and is orange in color.

Move up to the area above the navel in your solar plexus and focus on the third chakra, which is yellow in color.

Move up to the center of the chest between the two nipples and focus on your heart chakra, which is green in color.

Move up to the cleft in your throat and focus on the throat chakra, which is blue in color.

Move up to the area between and slightly above the eyebrows and focus on your brow chakra, which is indigo in color.

Move up to the top of your head and focus on the crown chakra, which is violet in color.

End the exercise with four strong beats.
At the completion of this exercise, sit quietly for several minutes. Sense the rush of sensory input previously blocked out by the sound of the drum. Bathe in the soothing afterglow of physical and spiritual well-being. Take adequate time to process the experience. You may feel very spacey and lightheaded. Moving energy up the body from the base chakra to the crown chakra is very powerful. If you would like to ground the energy back down into your body, close your eyes and focus for a few moments on the base chakra. Visualize roots extending downward from the base chakra deep into the Earth. When you feel grounded, open your eyes and jot down your experiences in a journal.

The Rainbow Fire

The Rainbow Fire symbolizes illuminated mind, clarity of all aspects of consciousness. Metaphorically, it describes the aura of iridescent light that radiates from a fully activated chakra system. This prismatic illumination within allows us to fully integrate the wisdom of all seven centers of consciousness. It clears the mind of illusions and obstructions, transforming thought patterns of confusion to reveal inherent clear mind. The fire of clear mind is ever present within each of us, and to remove any obstruction of its clarity is the duty of all people, so that each may find the way to unity and harmony. Drumming is one way that we can cultivate the fire of clear mind. The drum's beat ignites the Rainbow Fire within, illuminating the path and showing us the way. With clarity of mind, we can readily perceive what aims are in accord with the cosmos, not wasting energy on discordant pursuits. Through the insight and understanding of illuminated mind, we can bring enlightenment to the world!

Rose Quartz Meditation

Clearing the Heart Chakra
As we begin the meditational, hold a piece of rose quartz in your receiving hand. To determine which is your receiving hand... if you are right handed, put it in your left. If you are left handed, put it in your right hand.

The heart stands at the center of all energies and unifies our being as a whole. It is the point around which all the energies turn. A discord or imbalance in the heart chakra will adversely effect all the other centers. A clearing of the heart chakra will improve the interaction of all the other centers. It is important to maintain a balance to all the energy centers so a healthy level of awareness is manifested in our everyday lives. If more concentration is given to the upper chakras, then the lower energy centers lose sensitivity and function. If more concentration is given to the lower chakras then the upper energy centers will become cloudy and not function properly as well. Proper balance is the key.

As we begin this meditational, if you have a piece of rose quartz, get it now. If you don't have rose quartz, any of the stones that work for the heart chakra will work. Hold this in your receiving hand.

Take some peaceful breaths of cleansing and renewal. Feel the breath draw life into the body and the spirit. Breathe deeper and feel the breath draw not just from the air around you but also from the earth below. Breathe in this earth energy with each breath. Breathe with every pore of your body, feeling the awakening that is beginning to happen. Allow the life giving energies to pour into you and renew both your body and spirit. Let the earth energy surround you and flow into you. Feel it pulsing through your veins and surrounding you altogether. Continue to breathe this way, slowly and begin to relax even more.

As you sink deeper into this relaxation, feel yourself moving gently away from your body. Feel the freedom and relaxation as you move away from your body. Know that the body itself will be refreshed and renewed and will be perfectly safe until you return.

Now you are moving again, farther and farther into a field of clouds. You are very pleased and refreshed by the unique shapes and colors of the clouds. Watch how they form and reform, turning gently and constantly on themselves in an endless dance. You look ahead and see the clouds are more dense as if they are "hiding" something. The closer you draw, the clouds start to thin out as they start to become transparent the gracefully pull away. Now they have pulled back altogether to reveal a beautiful pink rose quartz.

Look closely at the color and notice the intensity of pure color that it radiates. Feel the warmth of the pink. Allow that warmth to wash over you. As it covers you from head to toe feel the love that is radiating from the rose quartz. Let it seep into your every pore, every fiber of your being. Receive the love that is being given to you freely. The color pink is as deep as it is radiant it is very pleasing to the eye and you feel yourself being drawn into it you feel yourself passing through the walls of pink and now you are suspended within. You notice the graceful intricate archways of pink surrounding you.

You feel a slight breeze move through and hear a sweet melody, one note after another as the breeze goes through the arches to create this melody. Another breeze stirs again and you hear the harmony and this harmony comes from deep within your being. It is part of you, it is you. You feel it in your heart as it vibrates throughout your entire body and spirit. It pulses through you with great strength in all directions at once. You are recharged and renewed.

As it sings through your body you have a great feeling of power and joy all fatigue and discomfort are passing away. The strength of the color pink and the vibrations of the rose quartz are sweeping through you, cleansing, renewing and restoring every fiber of yourself. You feel the center, in your heart, like the hub of a wheel and all other systems of your body are drawing from and reflecting this love to your other energy centers. They are drawing this love giving power through them to be restored in turn. You are filled with breath strength and joy and love and compassion in this newly found energy. You also know that you can draw upon this energy to restore yourself on any level of the body or spirit. This energy is here for you, whenever you would want it to be. You are part of this energy and it is, as always, a part of you.

Now you begin to move back, leaving the archways of pink. You continue stepping back farther and farther until the rose quartz is completely within your field of vision. You see it turning gently and peacefully. The clouds are moving again in around the rose quartz. They curl, roll and cover it. You are moving farther and farther away and drawing back into your physical body. You become aware that you are centered again within it. You feel it surround you and you are comforted by its familiarity. You realize that your body has also been renewed and refreshed while you were in the midst of the profound love you just experienced. This gives you great pleasure. Now breathe deeply in and out and feel the body's life systems awakening. Breathe deeply again and as you release the breath, you become aware of all the sounds of life around you. Breathe a third time, you are fully awake, refreshed, and renewed and remembering all that you have learned.

Energizing Your Solar Plexus Chakra Using Yoga Poses

You have seven major energy or psychic centers that radiate throughout the body, both front and back. These are called chakras which is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel. Each chakra is a center for various energies to be transformed and linked in your body. The body chakras start at the base of your spine and run all the way to the top of your head.

Chakras are seen in clairvoyant or psychic sight sometimes as colored circles, funnels, flowers, or as just a field around a part of the body.

These energy centers have a vibrational frequency and may also be heard clairaudiently.

Solar Plexus Chakra Physical Associations

In your human energy system, the center for personal power, your ability to make manifest into the world, is located in your solar plexus. This is your third chakra. Your third chakra is linked to your stomach, abdomen, upper GI tract, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, kidney spleen, adrenal glands and the middle spine area behind your solar plexus.

It is also responsible for the structure of your metabolic system.

Solar Plexus Power Center Feeds Your Self Esteem and Personality

Your third chakra handles the energy of your personal power, self-esteem and personality. Your third chakra is the place where you learn to create boundaries for yourself. Issues such as trust, fear of rejection, self image are all part of this chakra. This is the center for action, energy and power.

In opening your third chakra, you may reach deep into your own sense of self and find your balance or boundary point. This point is the use of personal power as a weaver of inner and outer power. You have the power to create and accomplish, rather than the power over something or someone.

In other words, you have the ability to manifest in the physical world.

Helpful Yoga Poses Energize Solar Plexus Chakra

The yoga postures of The Bow or the Pike Pose are very helpful to open, clear, and energize your third chakra. The Fire Breath practice from Tantra Yoga and Kundalini Yoga is also powerful and helpful.

Becoming Centered and Connecting to Calm Energies

In opening, clearing and energizing your third chakra, you create a reconnection with self in an accepting and loving way. The third chakra, or solar plexus is the door into the center of your being. It is here where you will feel peaceful, calm and centered.

Chakra Juices and Smoothies

The word chakra means wheel or vortex in the ancient language Sanskrit, and is used in energy medicine and energy anatomy to identify spinning vortexes that connect our bodies to the energy of the universe. Each chakra sends out great numbers of energy meridians called nadis, and has a unique energetic signature and vibration. In the East, the most commonly used chakras are the 7 chakras of the body and the 8th chakra, the energy body or electromagnetic field that surrounds us.

Each of the energy centers has corresponding organs, color and element, spiritual theme, gemstones, foods and more. While there are some parallels with 5-element theory, the chakra system takes quite a different approach.
Just for fun I’ve developed juices for the colors of the 7 chakras. These are not random gatherings from the plant kingdom, but rather ingredients that can harmonize together to create a whole.

They offer a rainbow spectrum of phtytonutrients. If you own a Vitamix, Blendtec or other high power blender you can make the fruit combinations into smoothies; otherwise I recommend juicing. You don’t need to use all of the ingredients at once; we like experimenting with different amounts and combinations of flavors, which is why I haven’t posted specific quantities.
