Reiki Chakra: How it Works and Healing Techniques

Reiki is a Japanese name that commonly translates to mean Universal Life Energy. Reiki practitioners channel this healing, restorative energy and use it to unblock stuck energy in the chakras and bring the system back into balance. Reiki chakra healing is one way to restore and maintain health and well-being. When combined with other chakra healing techniques, you can be assured that your whole system will hum along in perfect harmony!

How Reiki Chakra Treatment Works
Reiki chakra healing restores health and wellbeing.

The healing practice starts with relaxing the body either in a sitting pose or lying down. A Reiki Chakra healer will hold their hands either above the areas on your body where your chakras are located or they will rest their hands gently on those areas. No pressure is applied as the healer identifies areas of stagnant, blocked, weak or excessive energy. The practitioner will then focus on sending the Universal Life Energy that is Reiki into the chakras and areas of the body that need healing. The transmission of life energy is facilitated by the healer; this is a non-invasive energy healing technique that can also be applied to oneself (although it’s best to start with a few sessions with a trained healer so you understand what is going on and learn how to direct your energy).

Full body treatments:

In many cases, practitioners will do a full body treatment in which they will use the various hand positions outlined below. This is effective for overall healing and balancing of the whole system. When it is unclear exactly where the imbalance is that needs healing (this can be the case with multiple severe blockages) a full body treatment is the best course of action. As Reiki is a spiritually guided method. the healing energy will go where it is needed.

Positions for the Head:

The healer places his/her hands together with the thumbs touching. The hands can either hover just above the eyes or the the tips of the thumbs rest on the base of the patient’s nose with the palms on the forehead, with the fingers not touching the eyes. This provides healing for the third-eye chakra.
The healer’s hands rest on either side of the head, the base of the palms touching, with the fingers at the temples. The crown and third-eye chakras are healed here.
The healer’s hands are placed on either side of the head, cupping over the ears. This can help with ear, nose and throat problems healing the third-eye and throat chakras.
The healer places both hands at the back of the head. This helps to relieve stress, worry and pain in the head, neck and spine.
Positions for the Body:

Whole-body and specific healing can be achieved using Reiki. The healer’s finger tips touch together and are held just above the throat. This provides healing for the throat chakra.
The healer’s hands are held over the collar and breast bones. The throat chakra and lungs receive the most benefit from this.
The healer’s hands are placed above or below the breast area. The heart chakra is located in this area and will receive the most healing energy.
The healer’s hands are placed over the lower ribcage section in order to help heal the solar plexus chakra.
The healer’s hands are placed around the patient’s navel area to provide healing energy for the sacral chakra.
The healer’s hands hover over the space between the pelvic and pubic bones to give healing to both the sacral and root chakras.
Positions for the Legs/Feet:

One hand is placed above the knee cap while the other is placed behind the knee. The healer will do this for both knees to relieve stress, injuries and arthritis pain.
The healer’s hands are held in the most comfortable position for you around the ankle. This is done for both ankles to get rid of energy blockages and help with the thyroid gland.
For both feet, the healer clasps a foot with one hand on the sole and one on top. The feet have reflex zones for all major organs in your body so each chakra will receive healing energy.
Positions for the Back:

The healer will place both hands behind the patient’s neck to heal stress and personal responsibility issues.
The healer’s hands are placed over the shoulder blades to help heal the heart chakra.
The healer’s hands are held in the middle of the back will help send healing to the sacral and solar plexus chakras.
The healer’s hands are placed on the lower back below the waist or on the tailbone area to focus on healing the patient’s root chakra.
The healer places one hand over the neck and one over the tailbone in order to send healing to the first five chakras (root, sacral, solar plexus, heart and throat).
Healers channel life force energy to specific chakras. If you are just beginning with Reiki Chakra and its healing qualities you may want to start by having a few sessions with someone who is an experienced practitioner. A full body session usually only takes about an hour. It can help you with your healing, open you up to Reiki practices, and give you an opportunity to observe how someone else is able to channel the Life Energy and send it to another person. This is a discipline that takes practice and concentration like any other energy healing or meditative practice.

Eventually, you will develop the ability to apply Reiki chakra healing on yourself, consciously directing your energy where you intuitively feel a need.

Taking the time to learn this discipline can give you the ability to promote your own self-healing, balance your chakras, provide healing for others, enhance your awareness and mindfulness, aid you in your meditation and much more. Reiki is a great practice to incorporate into any wellness program to keep your chakras tuned up and to prevent small problems from escalating into chronic problems.
